The History


In the fall of 1991, long time Naperville resident; Brian Sledz, began a one-man venture into the fast paced long-distance business. Since that time, Network US, Inc. and its affiliates have grown to provide services to in excess of 26,000 customers nationwide. Network US, Inc. now has offices in Naperville, IL, Waukesha, WI, and La Center, Washington.

Network US has its own in house billing and customer service. None of these functions are "outsourced. When you call for service, you are talking to the people who can help you resolve your problems or questions. Network US owns and operates its own paging company with local, regional and nationwide coverage available throughout the continental United States. Network US and its affiliates currently offer service in the 48 contiguous states.

Network US is a real success story in what has recently become an industry that has been plagued by a dramatic downturn in business precipitated in part by the bursting of the Internet bubble. In addition, the increased competition for market share has forced most providers of long distance service to reduce rates to such a level that the margins, in many cases, do not allow for enough to cover the expenses necessary to stay in business. While that is true for many, Network US has managed to remain profitable, and has, in fact, thrived during this period of uncertainty in the market.

There are a number of reasons for Network US's success; Network US does not sell its services through a direct sales force. There are currently in excess of 350 independent Agents selling Network US Services nationwide. Without the direct cost associated with sales personnel, Network US is able to pass some of that savings on to its customers. In addition, Network US does not advertise, the growth of the company is attributed to the Agents and word of mouth. Again, this savings is passed on to the end-user.

According to Brian Sledz, President of Network US, "the only way to stay in business, profitably, in today's telecommunications environment, is to closely manage the expenses related to getting your product in front of customers. That includes not just employee expenses, it also means controlling your office expenses, billing expense and other business related expenses. You don't need that glass palace for office space, what you need is a functional area where you can effectively provide the highest level of service to your customers. What it really comes down to is, do you want pretty, or profitable? You choose."
